Monday, July 16 is Amazon Prime Day! If you’re a shopper like me, you’ve probably had this date circled on your calendar since it was announced about two ago.
Prime Day for Amazon is bigger than Black Friday. It’s a great way to save money. But you have to be a Prime member to take advantage of the sales. If you aren’t a Prime member, now is a great time to join. You’ll get 30 days free and after that you will be charged $12/month. So for the price of shipping one item, you can have all the benefits of Prime membership.
Everything you need to know about Prime Day can be found here. The event begins at 3 p.m. Eastern time and runs for 36 hours–ending on July 17. This is the longest Amazon Prime Day so far.

Amazon Prime Membership Has Its Benefits
Here are just a few of the reasons I have an Amazon Prime membership:
- Free 2 Day shipping – this works for me! I especially love it for ordering craft supplies. If I think of a project I want to complete on the weekend, I order as late as Wednesday afternoon and almost always I have it by Friday at the end of the day. This way, I get it just in time for the weekend when I do most of my crafting.
- Prime Video – I was already paying for Hulu and Netflix, so my Amazon Prime membership allowed me to drop Hulu. If a movie or TV show I want to watch isn’t on Netflix, it’s probably on Amazon Prime. I watch a lot of online video while I’m crafting.
- Prime Music – If you like Spotify, then you’ll want to check out Prime Music. Right now you can get 4 months of Prime Unlimited for just 99 cents (you can cancel after 4 months but after that it’s $7.99, which is similar to Spotify.) Amazon Music Unlimited is available anytime, anywhere and best of all–AD FREE. If you have an Alexa or an Echo, you’ll want to take advantage of this deal. My youngest was thrilled to get 4 months for 99 cents because he is a HUGE Garth Brooks fan and Garth’s music is exclusively on Amazon.
- Prime Reading – You don’t have to have a Kindle to take advantage of the reading library through Amazon Prime. There’s an extensive library of titles to take advantage of for free. You wouldn’t believe the free blogging books I’ve read through my Amazon Prime membership. I also love all the free magazine titles you can have access to, as well. You can open up even more Amazon titles by subscribing to Unlimited Reading and right now if you pay 99 cents, you’ll get three months free. (You can always cancel after the trial). There’s still a lot of summer left to get going on that summer reading list!
So here’s what I’m putting on my Amazon Prime Day watch list
The Cricut Easy Press
But Lori, you’re not a Cricut girl, you’re a Cameo Silhouette girl. Yes, that is true. But when Cricut came out with this handy little tool, I was very interested in it. I know crafters have mixed feelings about the Easy Press. The argument is if you’re going to spend that kind of money, you just as well get yourself a big heat press. I can’t totally disagree with that line of thinking. However, I am still in the middle of my big, fat, never-ending re-crafting the farmhouse project and my craft room is far from done. This means I have to be a kitchen table crafter for the foreseeable future and my kids might complain if they have to remove a big heat press off the table in order to eat breakfast. I so badly want to make some heat transfer vinyl projects and I can’t because I don’t have the room for the heat press. This seems like something I can use until I have the room for a big heat press.
Steam Canner With Temperature Indicator
My garden is finally starting to produce after a really wet spring/early summer. I can a lot of what we get from the garden. I make spaghetti sauce using this product, pickles of all kinds, tomato juice, salsa, and chopped tomatoes. When I put up those items, I like to use a steam canner. I get the same effect as a water bath canner, but with less time. I know the jury is still out on the safety of the steam canners, but I’ve used one for 10 years without issue. I need a new one and I can’t wait to see if Amazon has it on its Prime Day deals.
Electronic Tape Measure
I’ve had my eye on this electronic tape measure for quite a while now. I think they would be so handy and such a time saver when measuring room dimensions (I do that a lot lately) or before I make a cut into the wood I’m using for a sign. I’m not sure if Amazon will have this as one of their Prime Day deals, but I sure hope so.
I’ve wanted an Amazon Echo for quite awhile to play music. This is a good excuse to get one because Amazon always as their own products priced with some of their best of the year on Prime Day.
I’m sure Amazon will have some other great deals on craft supplies that I won’t be able to pass up!
How about you? What will you buy on Prime Day? Don’t forget to check out the Instant Pot specials, as well as the Silhouette Cameo 3 and its accessories. You know how much I love both of these fantastic tools!
