Re-Crafting A Farmhouse: Days 17-18 Footings and Forms!

Twenty days into the project and things are really starting to take shape!  The footings that were poured yesterday have already hardened up.  Today,  the forms were pulled off.  The rebar sticking out of the concrete footings is there to strengthen the concrete.

What beautiful concrete!

Before the walls can be poured, the wall forms have to be set.  Setting the forms is a two-day process.  The forms have been set around the house structure, but they didn’t quite get the garage walls done.

The next day, they came back to finish setting the wall forms.  They’ll be back on Monday to pour the walls and as with everything in this project that’s only if the weather is suitable.

We’ve been at this for 20 days now.  It’s really remarkable when you see how far we’ve come!!

But we have a looooong way to go!

Salvaging A Farmhouse is a series of blog posts that chronicle my experience of renovating and reclaiming our 1900 farmhouse.  This is a project that is over a decade in the making.  We were working towards some pretty serious renovations on the house until my husband became sick with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and died 9 weeks after his diagnosis.  My kids and I have been left with the task of completing what we started all those years ago. Every house and every family have a story and this is the story of ours.
